A couple of weeks ago I had the great fortune of making the portraits of Sue, a mother of three who never stepped in front of a professional photographer since her wedding day. Life for a mother is very busy and raising three kids is not a small feat. In all these years Sue never considered treating herself to something like a professional portrait. For many people, having their portrait made can seem extravagant, even self-indulgent; in reality, it’s quite the opposite.
At 59, Sue never saw herself from the eye of a portrait artist. It’s a powerful experience and it can be quite emotional, as it happened when I gave her the printed portraits. She said to me: “I’m amazed at these photos. It’s me, but I never get to see myself like this.”
For young people a portrait can do wonders to boost their self-confidence and help them facing the world. For adults and mature people a portrait is a powerful statement to show how beautiful, determined and strong one can be.
Create a family keepsake
When you have a portrait made you give the gift of showing a side of you at a moment in history. You create a family heirloom that will be passed on to the new generations who will admire their family founders and see them in a unique light. Sue’s grandchildren, one is two years old and the other was born just five months ago, will have the great pleasure to see images of their grandmother as she was the time they were born, in a much more unique and artistic way than some iPhone snaps.
From the images you would think that Sue had modeled before, but that’s not the case. When you book a photoshoot with me I take care of every minute detail, so that you don’t have to. Every pose, every detail is designed to make you look fantastic and anybody can do this. The only thing that you need to bring is a bit of spirit of adventure and your best smile.
