Curt Mercadante. Headshot by DreamLight Images. Charleston, SCMost people have the wrong idea of what a headshot is for.

The common misconception is that a headshot is the “face behind the name.”

That is completely wrong.

If that was the case, then you could use your passport photo for your website. Unfortunately, too many “headshots” are glorified passport photos. What a wasted opportunity.

A headshot is about your personality.

Does it show you authentic? Does it show you engaging, connecting with the viewer? That’s how you connect with prospects. That’s how you make it count and how you stand out from the crowd. It’s not the style, it’s not that backdrop.

Own your headshot. The background is just noise.

Have your personality come through and people will want to connect with you.

I have good news, though. It’s not your job to create a killer look. That’s what a photographer does.

I’m honored that I was asked to create the portraits for Curt Mercadante, world-renowed keynote speaker and coach.
