Our Next Professional Headshot Day (PHD) is March 28th
Charleston is a magical place. We have so much culture and art here that is absolutely impossible to go through a week without seeing something remarkable.
That might be one of the reasons that made Gracie and Lacy move from their original home of St. Charles, MO to the Lowcountry. Whatever the reason, it is out gain to have these two sisters here performing their beautiful singing and dancing wearing fantastic outfits that bring the elegance of the 1940s and 1950s back to the modern era. A real feast for our eyes and hearts.
With Gracie and Lacy, it’s not just a matter of nostalgia, they take their art seriously and their rendition of music and dance of the era is based on their decades of study and practice.
It has been my experience that they are truly nice people. As I contacted them to be part of this project, they immediately agree, taking time from their busy schedule, and brought a plethora of outfits to the studio, where we made several portraits in my Classic Black & White style, which is, of course, perfect for them.
Standing out in the world of entertainment is not easy. The loudest voices are often heard above the gentle tones of the sophisticated performers, and, unfortunately, a lot of ugliness has been accepted nowadays as entertainment. It is then with added pleasure we look at the work of Gracie and Lacy, two extremely accomplished performers who embraced the world of the Broadway musicals early on, when they were children, and continued to grow their productions that bring to us the charm and elegance of the best American music tradition with fantastic costumes designed by Lacy and the excellent choreographies of Gracie.
Their shows are a mix of singing and dancing, with great harmonies and a lot of fun.
While their normal act is punctuated by an uplifting vibe and great bright colors, they were able to embrace dramatic role for the portrait session and gave some truly “femme fatale” looks. A testament to their professionalism and flexibility.
Lacy is also the person involved with the marketing of the enterprise and she has been asked by the Charleston branch of the American Marketing Association to speak about what her 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry taught her about marketing and how those lessons can be applied to other businesses.
Gracie is an accomplished tap dancer taking inspiration from the likes of Eleanor Powell. She also composes music, plays the piano, and studied Production and Stage Management.
Theater production is an extremely complex craft that requires rigorous preparation and discipline. Gracie, beyond being a great stage performer, has directed and produced numerous theater productions, including musicals like “Singin’ In The Rain,” “White Christmas,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Little Women – The Musical.”
In addition, she has appeared on ABC and NBC, and worked with HBO.
They have been recognized by Tony Award winner Marvin Hamlisch and they were awarded a Missouri Senatorial Resolution for their contribution to the Arts.
Lastly, the sisters have co-written a musical with original music and they hope to have it show on Broadway.
I love the world of entertainment and it’s been a true honor to have this power duo at my studio. Thank you, Gracie and Lacy.
